How Thermage Works
Collagen is a protein that provides your skin with strength and elasticity. Collagen breaks down with sun exposure, aging, and heredity and because of that, our skin starts to sag and wrinkle. This protein is found in 3 layers of our skin, the epidermis (outermost, visible layer), dermis (collagen-rich layer beneath the epidermis), and the subcutaneous layer (fat layer with webs of collagen throughout). Treatment on just the epidermis layer won't have any effect on the innner layer where most of the collagen is located.
Thermage works on all three layers by using Radiofrequency (RF) technology that heats your skin's inner layer and collagen to cause immediate tightening. It also stimulates your collagen for new growth. Only one treatment is needed to see the results, which is a younger, healthier looking skin. Improvements will continue for 4-6 months after treatment because of new collagen growth. The results can last for years depending on the skin's condition and aging process.
